The Tim Bergling Foundation has opened its seventh free music studio for young people, this time in Navestad, Norrköping. Anyone aged 13 to 25 can come in to produce, write songs or record, with no experience needed and nothing to pay.

Klas Bergling and Anki Lidén, Tim's parents, started the foundation in 2019, the year after their son died. It works on young people's mental health and suicide prevention. The studios are part of that work and run under the name Studios For A Better Day, which they share with one of Tim's songs.

The foundation announced the plan at its first Together For A Better Day concert in Avicii Arena in 2021, and the first studio opened in 2022 at the House of Tensta youth centre in Stockholm. Umeå, Gävle, Uppsala, Sundsvall and Malmö have one too, and the Malmö studio is two site cabins in Hyllievångsparken.

Every studio is designed by Jens Eklund, who also designed Tim's own studio in Los Angeles. SVT reports that Navestad is the seventh of ten he's set to design.

The new room is at Navet Community Corner in the Ringdansen centre. The foundation runs it with the housing company Hyresbostäder, the study association Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan and Norrköping municipality. "We've heard from many young people that they need safe meeting places. They're missing that today," Joanna Stassos Wolf, who leads the project for the foundation, told SVT.

Josephine, 19, mostly DJs and sees the studio as her way into producing her own music. "Music means so much to me," she told SVT. "You say the word music and I think of life."

Each session opens with a check-in on how everyone is feeling, moves on to making music and ends with time to reflect before a check-out.

The foundation wants at least ten studios across Sweden. It hasn't named the next cities yet, and new openings are posted on its news page.
