Burning Man has confirmed the death of a second attendee at this year's event. Craigh Mann, 60, was found dead by campmates at his camp in Black Rock City on Saturday afternoon.
Second death reported at Black Rock City
According to Burning Man Project, Mann was found at approximately 3 p.m. on September 5. Organizers have not released a cause of death or provided further details about the circumstances.
His death came two days after another participant, a man in his mid-50s, suffered a medical emergency elsewhere at Black Rock City, marking the second death at Burning Man 2026 within days.
Earlier medical emergency
Burning Man said the first attendee immediately received lifesaving treatment before being transported to the event's onsite emergency care center, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been publicly released.
Pershing County Sheriff-Coroner Jerry Allen told the Reno Gazette Journal that there were no apparent signs of external foul play in that death, with a final cause still pending the medical examiner's findings.
No cause has been announced in Mann's death either, and organizers have not indicated that the two incidents are connected.
Support available at Black Rock City
Burning Man Project expressed its condolences to the families, friends and campmates affected by both deaths. Organizers also reminded participants that Black Rock Rangers and the event's Crisis Support team remain available around the clock for anyone who needs support.
Few additional details have been released as the event comes to an end, and the causes of both deaths remain publicly undisclosed.
